Overview

Mission Critical Group (MCG) is a power systems and solutions provider that delivers scalable infrastructure for mission critical environments. The Metal Shop Lead coordinates fabrication functions within the metal shop to support the assembly of custom switchgear structures, ensuring products meet client specifications while maintaining a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Metal Shop Supervisor to oversee daily operations, ensuring productivity, efficiency, and quality standards are met.
  • Monitor and report project progress using established software and internal tracking processes.
  • Proactively identify, propose, and implement enhancements to metal shop workflows.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the Metal Shop Supervisor during absences.
  • Lead by example to foster a culture of excellence and provide hands-on training to technicians.
  • Monitor team output and provide input regarding performance evaluations and professional development needs.
  • Participate in the interview process for departmental vacancies and lead onboarding of new hires.
  • Coordinate overtime scheduling and labor allocation to meet operational targets.
  • Conduct regular safety briefings and ensure adherence to safety policies and OSHA standards.
  • Oversee and perform routine maintenance programs for machinery.
  • Coordinate the final preparation and staging of materials for shipment.
  • Actively participate in advanced operational, safety, and leadership training.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4-5 years in general mechanical or metal working or associated field.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Bachelor's or Technical College degree or diploma in a related field is a plus.
  • Ability to motivate a diverse team and foster a collaborative environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and resolve issues autonomously.
  • Advanced ability to read and interpret complex schematics and blueprints.
  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools with high accuracy.
  • Highly detail-oriented with a commitment to quality standards.
  • Ability to multitask and maintain composure under tight deadlines.

Additional Information

  • Standard hours are 40 per week; flexibility is required to meet critical deadlines, which may involve overtime.
