Overview

Herc Rentals is a leading equipment rental supplier in North America, seeking a Mechanic A to lead fleet maintenance operations and serve as a mentor to other mechanics. The role involves ensuring equipment is rental-ready through preventative and corrective maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a consistent schedule for preventative maintenance on all Herc-owned fleet.
  • Operate and test equipment to meet quality and efficiency standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on fleet equipment and trucks independently.
  • Conduct oil changes, lubrication, tire replacements, hose repairs, and battery replacements.
  • Recondition and replace parts of heavy equipment.
  • Diagnose significant wear or tear on equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Produce detailed service reports and repair logs.
  • Follow company procedures and protocols.
  • Assist in training Mechanic B and C technicians.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ownership of a sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools.
  • Ability to drive and operate multiple types of vehicles and equipment.
  • Demonstrated mastery of Mechanic B and C-level tasks.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, propane, and fuel systems.
  • Proficiency with computerized diagnostic tools and fleet management systems.
