Overview

The Laborer supports and assists Plumbers and Apprentice Plumbers in the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems on AMPAM construction projects. Working under the direction of the Foreman, the Laborer prepares and maintains the job site, moves materials, and performs general construction support tasks safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and organize work sites to support efficient construction and installation activities.
  • Clean and remove debris, trash, and hazardous materials from the job site.
  • Dig trenches and pour concrete as directed by the Foreman.
  • Assist in installing sewer pipes, drains, and related plumbing components.
  • Transport materials, tools, and equipment to and from work areas on the job site.
  • Load and unload materials and equipment from trucks.
  • Align components and assist with layout according to blueprints and Foreman instructions.
  • Clean and maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition.
  • Follow all AMPAM safety policies, Cal/OSHA regulations, and Foreman direction at all times.
  • Communicate clearly with the Foreman and crew; respond promptly to instructions and requests for assistance.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality; take responsibility for assigned tasks and complete them on time.
  • Treat coworkers, customers, and other trades with respect; show initiative and offer help when needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site; enforce housekeeping standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 6 months to 1 year of residential and/or commercial construction experience, preferably in plumbing.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and respond to Foreman direction.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic written information and align components per blueprints.
  • Able to perform physically demanding work, including lifting and moving up to 30 pounds.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to project sites.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction certificate preferred.
  • First Aid / CPR certificate preferred.
  • Prior exposure to plumbing, sewer, or domestic water system installation preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
