Overview

Royal Waste Service, a Waste Connections Company, is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join their maintenance team in Queens, NY. This role is essential for keeping the fleet operating safely and reliably, directly supporting the service provided to drivers and the community.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, repairs, and diagnostics on diesel vehicles, including electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems.
  • Interpret vehicle computer system failure codes and make necessary adjustments to engine and vehicle control modules.
  • Review and complete repairs noted on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
  • Accurately document services using fleet maintenance software.
  • Conduct post-service test drives to ensure safety and performance.
  • Collaborate with teammates on complex repairs.
  • Maintain professional, courteous communication with drivers and team members.
  • Keep workspaces clean and compliant with OSHA standards.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of mechanic experience, preferably with diesel trucks.
  • Strong skills in electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Well-rounded experience in mechanical and welding repairs.
  • Familiarity with diesel vehicle diagnostics and preventative maintenance.
  • Basic tool set required.
  • Valid CDL Class B or A license, not required but a big plus.
  • Ability to work independently within a shop environment.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.

  • Location: Royal Waste- Queens NY
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Saturdays until 1pm as needed.
