Overview

The Welder specializing in Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) is responsible for performing welding tasks to join steel components in an industrial manufacturing environment. This role requires expertise in FCAW techniques to produce high-quality welds that meet industry standards, project specifications, and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) on steel components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and repair steel structures and equipment according to engineering specifications.
  • Prepare materials and surfaces for welding by cleaning, grinding, cutting, fitting, and aligning components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, and welding symbols to complete assignments accurately.
  • Inspect completed welds to verify compliance with quality standards and perform repairs or adjustments as needed.
  • Follow all workplace safety procedures and consistently use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain, inspect, and perform basic troubleshooting on welding equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Complete welding logs, production reports, and related documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and production team members to meet project schedules and production goals.
  • Participate in training and continuous skill development to improve welding techniques and industry knowledge.
  • Support production schedules by working overtime as needed based on operational requirements.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Welder specializing in Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW), preferably in a steel manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of FCAW welding techniques, procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality welds.
  • Knowledge of welding safety standards, procedures, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to maintain welding equipment and identify basic mechanical issues.
  • Good physical stamina and manual dexterity to perform welding tasks in various positions and work environments.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively solving problems.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
