Overview

As a Structural Engineer focusing on Transportation Structures, you will engage in rail structural design projects, perform complex analyses, and provide field inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Assist on rail structural design projects.
  • Perform complex structural analysis and design.
  • Provide critical inspections in the field.
  • Assist with planning, analysis, design, and report writing.
  • Coordinate project work with geotechnical, highway, and hydraulic engineers.
  • Ensure project goals are accomplished within time and funding parameters.
  • Be involved in projects with Transportation Structures and Design-Build Oversight Teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
  • Registered EIT or PE.
  • Substantial years of relevant post-education experience in engineering, structural/civil, and infrastructure design.
  • Knowledge of construction drawing standards.
  • Competent in using building Code and understanding of ACI and AISC provisions.
  • Proficient in using STAAD, SAP, RAM Steel for structural analysis.
  • Competent in using AutoCAD and MicroStation; ability to utilize REVIT or Bentley in BIM.
  • Skilled in using MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience within the Transportation industry and understanding of AREMA is preferred.
  • Able to work at field sites and some nights/weekends.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects.
  • Self-starter and can work independently.

  • Hybrid working policy allows splitting work between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations.
