Overview

The Seasonal Float Fabricator plays a key role in constructing floats, props, and scenic elements for these iconic events.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a carpenter, welder, fabricator, or painter on floats and other studio projects.
  • Participate in installations, set-ups, and take-downs for various events.
  • Assist with parade set-up and other necessary tasks during events.
  • Contribute to the installation and implementation of special projects, such as Holiday Displays, Marquee Elements, and Flower Shows.
  • Collaborate with the Production Manager and Shop Floor Supervisor on project engineering methods, planning, and production.
  • Fulfill other tasks and duties as assigned by the director of production and/or production manager.

Requirements

  • Knowledge or experience in carpentry, welding, painting, or sculpting is required.
  • Ability to work as a carpenter, welder, sculptor, or painter on floats and other studio projects.
  • Ability to read scale drawings and use scale models.
  • Ability to multitask and collaborate with multiple artists and builders.
  • Ability to perform 'professional level' finish work on all projects.
  • General knowledge of welding/metal fabrication and general rigging is a plus.
  • Knowledge or experience in electrics, plumbing, and hydraulics is a plus.
  • Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure.
  • This position requires heavy lifting, constant moving, standing, and reaching with arms and hands.
