Overview

Johns Manville is a leading manufacturer of premium-quality insulation and commercial roofing products, serving various industries globally. They are currently seeking a Maintenance Multi-Craft Mechanic to ensure minimal downtime and promote safe work practices at their Edison, NJ site.

Responsibilities

  • Generate, read and work from electrical schematics and verbal instructions.
  • Make electrical measurements and calculations as required.
  • Troubleshoot power and control circuits for plant power distribution.
  • Document systems in schematic form and install and start up systems.
  • Read relay logic diagrams and modify circuitry in the field.
  • Troubleshoot control logic for microprocessor-based controls and PLCs.
  • Supervise/manage small projects as assigned and work independently.
  • Operate machine shop equipment to make repairs.
  • Maintain, adjust, service and lubricate plant equipment.
  • Inspect and determine required repairs for plant buildings and facilities.
  • Diagnose, repair and install power transmission components.
  • Perform welding and gas cutting as required.
  • Diagnose, repair and install pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Use safe working practices and report hazardous conditions.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly working area.
  • Document work orders appropriately to SAP.
  • Utilize inventory system for parts management.
  • Assist in production line changeover and setup.

Requirements

  • Minimum of High School Diploma with technical college certification or Associates degree in technical discipline.
  • 2 or more years of industrial experience in mechanical/electrical repairs, or 4 years of strong industrial experience in lieu of formal education.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLC and field devices.
  • Experience using multi meters and other electronic test equipment.
  • Experience operating various machine shop equipment.
  • Welding, gas cutting, and fabrication experience.
  • Experience diagnosing, repairing, and installing power transmission components.

Additional Information

  • Employee must be able to work 10:00am – 6:30pm Monday – Friday and OT when needed.
  • The work environment may be extremely hot or cold and may be dirty from oils/grease.
