Overview

The Mechanic A position involves performing all phases of repair and maintenance with a focus on safety and technical skills. The role requires proficiency in preventive maintenance and various trades, including electrical, plumbing, and carpentry, while adhering to union regulations and responding to emergencies as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and replace electrical circuits and fixtures.
  • Install, repair, and replace plumbing fixtures and maintain water piping.
  • Repair and maintain interior doors and security hardware.
  • Patch, plaster, tape, and paint walls.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily assignments and compliance with codes.
  • Assist in evaluating new equipment for purchase.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Three years of experience in trades or completion of a Mechanic Training Program.
  • Must possess all applicable licenses and permits.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and instructions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work with mechanical parts and equipment.

Additional Information

  • Full-time position with a standard work schedule of Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm.
  • Employees hired after March 26, 1999, will be subject to a four-year wage progression.
  • Required to be Tuberculosis (TB) negative and submit to periodic TB testing.
