Overview

The Skilled Trades Tech III position at the University of Houston involves coordinating and leading staff in the installation, repair, and maintenance of various systems including carpentry, plumbing, and electrical devices. This role is critical for maintaining the security and integrity of the University infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate work assignments with manager and inspect work in progress.
  • Perform duties as a carpenter, painter, plumber, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and/or exterior maintenance technician.
  • Provide training and technical direction to maintenance staff.
  • Review work orders and coordinate work with campus customers.
  • Prepare staff timesheets and management reports.
  • Ensure adequate inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • May serve on special task forces during emergencies.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of five years of directly job-related experience.
  • Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and simple mathematical functions.
  • May require technical certification or licensing related to the job.
  • Valid Texas Driver License required.
