Overview

The Rotating Equipment Inspector will utilize mechanical inspection, welding, NDT, and pressure equipment experience to ensure equipment reliability in a major operating facility. This role involves hands-on work with rotating equipment and requires knowledge of industry practices and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot rotating equipment issues and abnormal operating conditions identified by Operations and Maintenance.
  • Review shift reports, maintenance notifications, and equipment-related issues requiring technical follow-up.
  • Assist in prioritizing daily rotating equipment maintenance and reliability activities.
  • Evaluate equipment repairs and participate in 5-Why and other failure cause analyses.
  • Develop equipment repair specifications, scopes, and Inspection Test Plans.
  • Establish and execute quality assurance hold and witness points for equipment repairs.
  • Monitor equipment health using tools such as PTM Hub, PI Vision, and SmartConnect.
  • Develop maintenance and operator instructions supporting safe and reliable equipment operation.
  • Support MOC and PSSR field assurance activities and escalate technical concerns to the appropriate engineer.
  • Provide machinery-related procedural assurance and reliability recommendations to Operations and Maintenance.
  • Support RCM continuous improvement and preventive maintenance change requests.
  • Develop and detail rotating equipment scopes for shutdown and turnaround activities.
  • Review and correct equipment Bills of Material within GSAP/CMMS and submit inventory requests as needed.
  • Support non-business-hour troubleshooting when rotating equipment issues require technical response.

Requirements

  • Experience in mechanical, piping, equipment inspection, or related industrial inspection work.
  • Experience applying PEI practices and common industry codes and standards.
  • Hands-on knowledge of welding, NDT methods, and pressure testing.
  • Demonstrated competency with Permit to Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and construction HSSE requirements.
  • Experience troubleshooting, inspecting, or supporting repairs of rotating equipment.
  • Knowledge of equipment repair scopes, inspection requirements, and quality assurance practices.
  • Experience with failure analysis, reliability, or equipment condition monitoring preferred.
  • Experience with CMMS/maintenance systems and equipment BOMs preferred.
  • Familiarity with industrial production processes and the interaction between rotating machinery and process operations preferred.
