Overview

The Design Engineer will assist in the sales and profit effort by providing safe and efficient designs for low-rise steel building systems, including various structural components. The role involves effective application of design software, project management, and communication with clients and teammates.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design of low-rise steel building systems including structures with cranes and removable roof sections.
  • Apply MBS software for designing standard and non-standard structural framing conditions.
  • Provide creative and economical solutions for challenging framing conditions.
  • Manage projects through effective communication and documentation with clients and teammates.
  • Enhance current design software by providing suggestions and verifying engineering calculations.
  • Perform quote engineering functions including preliminary design and review of client specifications.
  • Represent the company as an engineering resource in project meetings with clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution with a focus in Structural Engineering.
  • Successfully completed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam or awaiting results.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Strong background in Engineering in the Pre-Engineered Metal Building Industry is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer registration in the United States preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency with metal building design software is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Additional Information

  • Continually utilize visual acuity to read technical information and use a keyboard.
  • Occasionally required to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
