Overview

The Department of Transportation is seeking an Automotive Mechanic to maintain and repair vehicles that support transportation services in Delaware County. This role involves hands-on problem solving and ensuring equipment is in top condition to support safe travel for residents and workers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive care and repairs on cars, trucks, tractors, and construction equipment.
  • Work on electrical, cooling, suspension, driveline, fuel, brake, heating, and air conditioning systems.
  • Complete official state safety and emissions inspections and document all related records.
  • Respond to emergency service needs and conduct repairs or adjustments outside the garage when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate equipment maintenance logs and support environmental and safety requirements.
  • Demonstrate repair techniques, assist other mechanics, and help secure proper parts and supplies.

Requirements

  • Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade or completion of an approved apprenticeship.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
  • Possession of a valid Class 1 Inspection Mechanic certificate or equivalent for Class 1 vehicles.
  • Must provide own mechanics toolbox and basic tool set.
  • Must possess a CFC-12 Refrigerant Recycling Certificate and a 134A Refrigerant Recycling Certificate upon hire.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.

Additional Information
