Overview

The Machine Operator I is responsible for performing essential manufacturing steps of part trimming and drilling, ensuring daily production needs are met while maintaining quality standards. This role does not have supervisory responsibilities and requires adherence to safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
• Trim plated parts to print specifications utilizing manual and programmable lathes.
• Core drill parts using equipment including manual drill presses, lathes, and programmable HAAS drilling machines.
• Program HAAS machines for drilling operations.
• Perform preventative maintenance including fluid changes, lubrication, and cleaning of machines when needed.
• Accurately record production information on paper travelers and in the ERP system.
• Maintain a clean machine and organized work area.
• Make minor repairs and notify maintenance for other maintenance needs.
• Perform a variety of tasks such as counting, cleaning, returning gauges and fixtures, transferring parts.
• Use measuring equipment to maintain close tolerances.
• Follow schedules and procedures.
• Be adaptable to cell and team concepts as well as cross-training.
• Ensure all safety guards are in place and in good condition.
• Assist other operators if necessary.
• Inspect work in progress using necessary equipment and outlined in quality or work instructions.
• Notify Supervisor or Lead if quality requirements are unclear or questionable.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, specification sheets, and/or mechanical drawings.
• Computer literacy is required.
• Capable of using measuring instruments, i.e. micrometer, calipers, comparator, height gauge.
• Capable of using hand tools (i.e. screwdriver, wrenches).
• Ability to read and write, perform basic arithmetic, and follow verbal and written instructions.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent is desired.
